Further investigation reveals a hidden lawn heralded by a water cascade, a secret large jacuzzi with its own private wooden deck, a river at the end of the garden and, finally, the beach, those relentless waves, and a fabulous vista stretching all the way down to Bali's southernmost tip. Villa Sankara is a magical and exclusive private villa by the ocean, immersed in Balinese Mystique, a beautiful sanctuary blending Balinese architecture and culture with clean contemporary lines, combining an exotic open-air tropical lifestyle with cool air-conditioned comfort. Designed by the owner Priscilla Andre for families and friends to rejoin, this stunning five-bedroom property located in the rural district of Berawa in Canggu, is an escape from the world, yet only a short drive from the trendy shops, restaurants and nightlife of Seminyak. It is easy to find your own privileged space when staying at Villa Sankara with families and groups of friends - two of the bedroom suites are set within private walled compounds – but you will always be within the sound of the sea. Three separate garden areas offer spaces to chill and relax, or for the kids to play ball games, while a timber-floored mezzanine and two upstairs bedrooms, complete with spacious balconies, are blessed with extraordinary views. The ocean works its magic on this blessed haven where the unique mood that takes over as soon as you enter the house truly stills the mind and lifts the spirits... From a secure car park, a traditional Balinese doorway welcomes guests to the villa. At the bottom of a flight of steps is a pair of private enclosed stand-alone suites, each with a private entrance and courtyard garden surrounded by high walls. The jacuzzi suite's bedroom opens onto a large bubbling jacuzzi open to the sky and has an en suite bathroom with a private garden featuring a rain shower and a waterfall. The two-bedroom suite is ideal for families as it presents two bedrooms sharing a spacious bathroom and a courtyard garden. Beyond these suites is a sheltered lawn, with a charming sitting area shaded by palms. From here, the enticing view of the 20m infinity swimming pool, beach and ocean becomes apparent through the open porte cochere of the villa's main two-storey building. The ground floor of the main building is open-plan, yet subtly divided into distinct rooms. There is a sitting area within the entrance hall (a lovely place to enjoy a coffee and a game of chess), and on one side facing the pool is a dining room with a table that can seat up to ten. A fully-equipped air-conditioned kitchen is linked to the dining area by a wide hatch. On the other side is a sitting room, furnished with two comfy sofas and an antique coffee table. These rooms open to the garden and sea breezes, making the most of the tropical living experience, yet doors and blinds can be closed to create a cosy ambience. Hidden around the side of the building is a high-tech, air-conditioned home theatre with a large wall-mounted satellite-channel flat screen TV and DVD player, surround-sound, blackout curtains, and super comfortable built-in sofas tiered on two levels in true cinema style. Two more air-conditioned bedrooms are located upstairs, separated by an open mezzanine with more sitting areas and mesmerising views of the ocean. Each room has a private balcony for enjoying the scenery. All suites have their own individual characteristics, and are fitted with fantastic bathtubs and outdoor rain showers. Spend the entire day in the privacy of the villa, replenishing the soul and spirit, enjoy the freedom of a dip in the pool before breakfast with bob Dylan on a loop, and the luxury of not really wondering what to do till lunch .. or return briefly for a swim and a nap between daytime exploration and night time revels, the professional staff will see to your needs and desires with dispatch and discretion. | |
