Three ways to spice up your life…
Swathed in vibrant orange hues, Rana Raj stands unassumingly on the busy crossroads of Wyndham Street, welcoming passers by from the cacophony of honking horns into a gorgeously lit abode in the colours of an ancient Indian city. The laid-back feel lends itself effortlessly to whiling away an evening with friends over some people watching and a good bottle of wine. Rana is the princely title of royalty in Sanskrit, and the food here is fit for a king.
For HK$99, you get HK$200 worth of food, drink and sheesha at Rana Raj, inclusive of service charge. The restaurant serves both Northern and Southern delicacies with an extensive menu that conjures the flavours of the country’s most classic dishes. This is serious Indian cuisine, and the secret is in the use of utterly fresh ingredients – crisp vegetables, tender meat – balanced with just the right amount of stone-pounded spices. Recommended eats include the Allo Tikki (potato patties stuffed with lentils and raisins, HK$62), Jheenga Mahi Kabab (chargrilled prawns perfectly spiced and garnished from the tandoor oven, HK$102), the luscious Butter Chicken (HK$98) and the mouth-watering Masala Papadom (HK$38). But don’t just take our word for it…
“Newly opened Rana Raj has got some rockin’ Indian cuisine going on. I had some of the sweetest, most succulent prawn appetizers there, and the spices are generous, the flavors wonderfully exotic. Their banana chaat is a must-try, and their masala papadam, aloo tikki and pakoras will have you drooling for more.” – HK Magazine Onlin
“Every spice explodes, every dish melts in the mouth. It’s a truly heady experience and wonderful food at a perfect price… The menu is a real treat for vegetarians and meaty enough to satisfy the carnivorous”. - Foodie Magazine, Issue 20, March 2011
This offer is available during dinner from 7pm – 12 midnight. The voucher is valid for food, drink and can even be used towards Sheesha usage (HK$150 a pop). What’s more, all drinks revert back to Happy Hours prices after 10pm. Need we say more?
