The 8th Estate Winery is offering an exclusive and unique lifestyle experience. They want to share their knowledge, taste and passion for wine. They have created an environment for participation, learning and development, all for the purpose of enhancing the enjoyment of fine wine. The 8th Estate Winery’s open house style tasting session will let you visit the winery and view its barrel rooms. The wine experts will take you through the processes of wine making and aging. The 8th Winery's concept is inspired by the known principal that wine does not travel well. Their master vintner, Eddie McDougall, travels the world to source and personally select the best grapes from each region. Once chosen, the grapes are harvested and frozen to preserve each grape at its highest potential. Flash freezing has been proven to preserve grapes at their peak of winemaking potential and create spectacular vintages. In a frozen state, the grapes are shipped to Hong Kong where they are allowed to thaw and then production begins as it would in any boutique winery in the world. The wine is left to age in the winery’s French and American oak barrels. As they are a specialized operation, each barrel is carefully monitored and specifically blended by their master vintner. The winery’s limited production volumes ensure that the wines receive individual attention and elite status. Your tour will end with wine tasting at The 8th Estate’s own wine bar or beautifully lit sea view terrace and you will take home a bottle of Sangiovese 2008 (worh HKD280) + a bottle of Merlot Cabernet Franc Rosé 2011 (worth HKD140).
