| WHY WE LIKE IT... As we all know, in France, cooking is a serious art form and a national sport... There are many stories of the origin of France's best known pastry, the croissant. The most popular one dates back to 1683 when Austria was under siege by the Turkish empire. It is said that the bakers, since they worked at night and underground, heard the Turks digging to get to the city of Vienna. The bakers alerted the military, thereby saving Austria. To honor the victory, the bakers made a pastry in the form of a crescent moon, the symbol on the Turkish flag. Then, 100 years later, Marie Antoinette (from Austria) introduced the croissant to the French aristocrats. Today you get a chance to learn how to make croissant, pain-au-chocolat and pain-aux raisins with a 2.5hr hands-on dessert masterclass with Koby Au. You will leave the class with 3 to 5 pieces of each pastry (croissant, pain-au-chocolat & pain-aux-raisins). Each class lasts for 2.5 hours and uses only premium ingredients. Koby Au has a pedigree in baking stretching back over 7 years, when he obtained his culinary degree in Los Angeles, California.
