| Reviews from tripadvisor "Fantastic architecture, surroundings and calm" After a hectic week in Beijing sight-seeing all day surrounded by people and cars all the time, arriving at Commune By the Great Wall was like entering paradise. Fantastic nature and totally quiet apart from the birds and other animals entertaining. Nice rooms - view of the great wall from our own bedroom. Some rooms are a bit small. Beautilful architecture, houses with the rooms scattered in the forest around the main house, nice outdoor pool with cafe. All in all a fantastic place, friendly staff who do their best ro communicate in English. After three days we knew the menus in the two restaurants in the Commune, so much more than 2-3 days is not recommended... and the prices are also rather high. "The Highlight of our Trip to Beijing" This hotel is about 1-1.5 hours outside of Beijing, and you can see the Great Wall from the hotel. There is a short, steep climb to an unrestored portion of the Great Wall. The views were amazing, and we had the Great Wall to ourselves! It was quite a shock when we went to Badaling the next day with millions of people. The food was really good, especially considering you can't walk to another restaurant. Take a tour of the houses, especially if you are interested in modern architecture. If you have kids, the kids club is amazing - the best I've seen. Our kids loved it and still talk about it. | |
