| WHY WE LIKE IT... Tired of jewellery that comes from an instantly recognisable brand? Then check out Brigetta, a local designer who is fast becoming a name to watch for on the international jewellery scene. Brigetta is the brain child of UCLA-educated Bridget King. Bridget started fiddling around with jewellery when she decided to recreate a pair of earrings she saw at a department store which she couldn't afford. She was 19 then and armed with tweezers, pliers and some raw materials, she crafted her first piece. She gave jewellery design her full attention when she moved to Hong Kong, starting with a costume jewellery collection that quickly caught on among the city's chic set. Today, she has a thriving costume and fine jewellery business with a boho-chic aesthetic. Her website boasts six collections with names like Nature, Links, and Modern Heiress. Her designs are timeless and easy-to-wear but above all still look modern and on trend. Girls on the go will love the multifunctional pieces that can be worn in several ways, allowing you to play with different looks and styles. More recently she started to incorporate fine jewellery pieces into her line and reinterpreted some of her classics, for example the triple teardrop earrings, in a luxe version made from yellow, rose, black or white gold with diamonds. The concept is still the same: the earrings feature three different sized teardrops (small, medium and large) that are detachable allowing them to be worn in various combinations. You can even flip the hoops and wear them plain (sans diamonds). If you don't want to buy a set of three, you can get individual sizes as well... If you are looking for something more fashion forward, she has a few pieces featuring champagne coloured diamonds set in oxidised silver for a cool look. The diamonds are rose cut and paved irregularly so that each piece looks more interesting.
