In Paris, the bistro is an institution. With a cozy, unpretentious atmosphere, lots of room to people watch and French fare at a modest price, what's not to love?... Libertine is the latest of the French brasseries to open in town and we love it already!
Bricks, hard-tiled floors, bentwood chairs, high-ceiling, hanging fans, the space is gorgeous! A classic bistro decor with wooden chairs and plush red banquettes inside... There is also a small alfresco dining area with a few high tables and stools set outside for those who want a coffee after lunch.
The menu is a single page dedicated to fuss-free French dishes. It offers few surprises with different plats du jour, a variety of hors d’oeuvres (escargot, duck liver terrine, steak tartare), salads, sandwiches (including croque monsieur!) and entrées such as steak frites, lamb racks and pan-roasted chicken. There are also lunch sets that include a dessert and an appetizer.
Finally the name, Libertine! So Parisian!... For some it will remind Mylen Farmer's hit or simply suggest an air of liberty and freedom, perfect for a Summer lunch!...
