One of the most popular activities amongst Hong Kong residents is boating. It seems every Saturday or Sunday you'll get another invitation to go on a junk, or if you are Foxy enough, on one of your friends’ yachts. I have to admit, it is indeed a great way to escape the heat of the city and explore the neighboring islands. Here is the opportunity to go sailing but not just on any sailing boat: we are offering you the opportunity to embark on one performance racing yacht.
You may sail 'Circus', a Farr 40 one-design racing yacht, one of the most successful offshore one-design classes ever! Recently shipped up from Auckland, Circus is an absolute thoroughbred with a great racing pedigree in the US and New Zealand. She makes the best of the ideal Hong Kong sailing conditions, for day sailing there is nothing like her!
Otherwise you will sail on the very same yacht that won a round-the world-race, a 64 ft Volvo 60. V1 is the Ferrari of the sea, this baby not only won the Rolex round-the-world race but also the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race and held the Trans Atlantic and 24-hr speed record. Told you she is a champ!!! And her owner has kept her exactly the same as when she was racing, so you'll definitely experience the real thing.
You will meet at Stanley Blake Wharf (Down the steps from Stanley Plaza). And then, expect 3 fantastic hours on the ocean without a roaring engine to spoil the atmosphere. If you are a fan of sailing, their highly experienced and friendly international crew will let you take control, or if you are like me (a beginner who likes to put her hand in everything) you can help them out a bit. Of course you also have to option to simply relax, sip a glass of boutique Australia wine, all while feeling the breeze flowing through your hair.
